2025 Climate Summit Has Begun

As we reach a new milestone in the fight against climate change, world leaders have gathered for the 2025 Climate Summit. Kicking off on September 23, this summit will be one of the most critical meetings shaping global climate goals in history. Countries that are parties to the Paris Agreement will update their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) 3.0, outlining how they will take steps to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

The summit will run until September 26, and participating countries will present their proposed solutions to global climate issues. This summit offers a significant opportunity not only to strengthen international cooperation between countries but also to accelerate the implementation of actions against climate change. Hosted by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the summit will address critical topics, including reducing carbon emissions, transitioning to renewable energy, and financing.

NDC 3.0: More Ambitious and Stricter Targets

One of the key topics of this summit will be the updating of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) 3.0 reports, which countries are required to present in line with the Paris Agreement by 2025. NDCs contain the goals each country has set to combat climate change. The 2025 Climate Summit will not only update these targets but also ensure that countries take more concrete and actionable steps to fulfill their commitments. This process takes place every five years and aims to further strengthen climate goals.

However, the countries participating in the summit will not only focus on fulfilling their commitments but will also aim to increase global collaboration and solidarity. For example, participating countries will hold special sessions to learn from each other's successes and share their experiences.

Africa and the Amazon Rainforests: Fighting for Protection Against Climate Change

At the 2025 Climate Summit, Africa and the Amazon rainforests will also be major topics on the agenda. Forests play a crucial role in preventing global warming and reducing carbon emissions. Tropical forests in Africa, as well as the Amazon, are known as the world's climate regulators. Africa houses a variety of ecosystems and biodiversity. These forests not only store carbon but also provide a livelihood for local communities.

The Amazon Rainforest will be one of the special agenda items at the 2025 summit. Brazil, which will host COP30 in Belem in 2025, is working intensively to develop strategies for the protection of the Amazon. The Amazon is a vital ecosystem for maintaining the balance of the world’s climate. The 2025 Climate Summit will ensure that necessary steps are taken to protect the Amazon and that an international agreement on its conservation is reached.

Leaders Attending the Climate Summit and Turkey's Role

Among the countries attending this summit is Turkey. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is expected to attend the summit and announce Turkey’s commitments. Turkey will pledge stronger commitments to help fight climate change and contribute to achieving global climate goals. This summit will further solidify Turkey’s commitment to emission reductions, renewable energy use, and environmentally friendly projects.

Taking Steps for a Sustainable Future

The 2025 Climate Summit offers a crucial opportunity to achieve sustainable development goals globally. The summit will be a major step in strengthening international cooperation and creating advanced climate policies. However, at this summit, not only commitments but also concrete actions will be discussed. Early warning systems, digital public transformation, private sector zero-emission targets, and steps in financing will be key agenda items.

Time to Unite for Global Climate Goals

The fight against climate change is not just the responsibility of one country but of the entire world. The 2025 Climate Summit provides a critical opportunity for leaders to come together and take a stronger stance against global warming. The summit will ensure that countries take concrete and actionable steps to meet their commitments and achieve global climate goals. This summit will strengthen the resolve in the fight against climate change and enhance global cooperation.
