Monitoring and Evaluation

Sustainability is not just about launching well-intentioned projects—true sustainability is achieved through initiatives that deliver real and measurable impact. At Foundation Green Gold, we regularly assess the environmental, social, and economic effects of every action we take, shaping not only today but also tomorrow.

Through our Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) approach, we objectively analyze how close we are to our goals, which strategies are effective, and which ones need to be adapted.

Why Is Monitoring and Evaluation Necessary?

Nature-based solutions offer promising potential to mitigate the effects of climate change, but they can become unsustainable if not backed by scientific and systematic assessments. Monitoring and evaluation are the cornerstones of accountability and continuous learning.

For us, monitoring and evaluation mean:
• Analyzing progress toward targets
• Assessing the efficiency of resource use
• Documenting social and environmental impacts
• Generating data for ongoing improvement

This approach helps us understand how our projects function in real-life conditions while offering transparency and trust to our donors and partners.

Monitoring and Evaluation in the Project Cycle

All Foundation Green Gold projects are carried out within a defined evaluation framework from start to finish. This framework includes the following steps:

1. Goal Setting and Indicator Definition

At the beginning of each project, clear goals are set along with quantitative and qualitative indicators to measure progress. For example:

  • Amount of carbon sequestered (tons of CO₂)

  • Contribution of planted tree species to biodiversity

  • Participation rates of local communities

  • Indicators of community-based income generation

2. Continuous Monitoring

While our projects are active on the ground, we collect continuous data to monitor progress. This process is supported by digital mapping, satellite imagery, field visits, surveys, and observation reports from local partners. In this way, we monitor:

  • Tree growth performance

  • Levels of carbon absorption

  • Community feedback

  • Seasonal environmental changes

3. Midterm and Final Evaluations

Evaluation reports conducted at regular intervals form the basis of our internal project management and communication with donors. These reports:

  • Compare expected versus actual impacts

  • Identify areas for improvement

  • Analyze risks

  • Offer recommendations for future steps

These reports also serve as a foundation for the verification processes of carbon credit certification.

Measuring Effectiveness in Carbon Credit Projects

Carbon credit systems must be reliable and verifiable. At Foundation Green Gold, we monitor every stage of our carbon credit projects and document our findings according to international standards.

Our effectiveness measurement includes:
• Regular updates of carbon absorption calculations
• Collaboration with third-party verification bodies to ensure certification
• Preparation of detailed impact reports for each carbon credit project
• Provision of impact certificates to donors, showcasing the environmental and social benefits of their contributions

This system makes it scientifically verifiable that every donation leads to real environmental impact.

Monitoring of Carbon Footprint Offset Programs

The programs we offer for individuals and businesses to offset their carbon footprints are managed through a detailed monitoring and feedback mechanism.

For organizations:
• Corporate carbon footprint calculations are performed in accordance with ISO standards
• Offsetting steps are documented with transparency
• Each contribution is linked to a specific forest project, with detailed breakdowns
• Regular impact reports are shared

For individuals, carbon offset donations made through a user-friendly interface are matched with specific projects in our system. Contributors are notified via email about the areas they have supported.

Adaptability: Quick Response to Changing Conditions

Any organization working with nature understands that ecosystems are dynamic, not static. Factors such as drought, sudden weather changes, wildfires, and socioeconomic shifts can affect how projects function. That’s why we are committed to adapting our projects based on monitoring and evaluation findings.

For example:
• If saplings are found not to thrive in a certain area, the species is changed
• If community participation is low, social impact assessments are re-evaluated
• New technologies and methods are integrated into projects to enhance effectiveness

This flexibility not only delivers better results but also enhances the resilience and sustainability of our initiatives.
